Think I might already know the answer to this but ... can I deploy reports
created with VS2005/RS2005 Report Designer to a SQL2000 Reporting Services
server? If not, as it appears, can I re-install VS2003 & RS2000 on a client
machine already running VS2005, or will I need to remove and install VS2003
first?Welcome to the MSDN newsgroup.
Regarding on the two question you mentioned:
1. can I deploy reports created with VS2005/RS2005 Report Designer to a
SQL2000 Reporting Services server?
===============================This is not supported since RS 2005's report definition has added many new
items which are not supported by RS 2000. Also, generally only backward
compatibility is supported.
2. can I re-install VS2003 & RS2000 on a client machine already running
VS2005, or will I need to remove and install VS2003 first?
==========================This is supported. Vs 2003 and vs 2005 can be installed side by side on
the same machine(the same with SQL 2000 and SQL 2005). As for RS, make
sure that the report server application/also report manager for RS 2000 is
configured to use the ASP.NET 1.1 while RS 2005's are configured in a IIS
site or virutal dir that use ASP.NET 2.0. This is important.
Hope this helps.
