rsItemNotFound for Report Models

I have a Sharepoint integrated Reporting Services server. I have created Report models based on Data Sources. I then created Report Builder Reports to make some BI Charts and Graphs. They look great and work fine for a few days then all of a sudden I get a rsItemNotFound error saying it cannot find the Report Model which is clearly there.

  • An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
  • The item 'IT Reports/PWPDB_Prod_Model.smdl' cannot be found. (rsItemNotFound)
  • If I open the Report Model from Report Builder it loads the data fields, but also fails to run reports with the same error

If I try to regenerate the model from the library I get an error stating that the model needs to be a generated model.

  • The model specified must be a generated model.
  • (rsModelNotGenerated)
  • Even after rebooting all of the servers in the farm I get the same messages. I can regenerate a model from the data source and it doesn't work. I am seeing no errors in the logs of my app server at all regarding reporting services.

It looks as though I will have to de-integrate Reporting Services as it is not viable for a business critical application.

Please for th elove of Zeus tell me you were able to solve this?

I am getting the exact same error. I have tried everything under the sun to make this work. Any advice?

rsactivate error - trying to install on 2003 with Sharepoint servi

I am trying to install SQL Reporting Services on a Windows Server 2003 box
that is running Sharepoint Services 2.0.
When you run the install you are warned that you will need to manually
initialize SQL Reporting because of Sharepoint and are referred to the
documentation. In the rssetup.chm there is an article entitled
"Troubleshooting a Side-by-Side Installation of Reporting Services and
Windows SharePoint Services". I followed these instructions, but when I get
to the last step where you run rsactivate, I get an error:
    Failure starting the web service:
    The service is already activated.
I did have reporting installed on this server once before but it was
uninstalled. I tried uninstalling reporting services when I got this error,
then tried again but I get the same result. I've been deleting the virtual
directories, the program files folder, and the databases before trying again.
I also noticed that two com + packages are left behind. If you don't remove
them the next installation adds two more. I removed all of them and tried
again but still the same result. I don't possess any knowledge of web
services so I'm not sure where to look next.
    Can anyone help please?

The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key used to access sensitive
or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a
backup key or delete all encrypted content and then restart the service.

you ran or installed something that reset the password on your ASPNet
account. Installing a version of the .Net framework will do this. So will
running aspnet_regiis. When the password is reset (reset = changed without
supplying the original one) on an account, the decryption keys associated
with that account are lost. There is probably an event in your windows
event log that indicates this happened.

    RS2005 + Sharepoint 2007; installation doesn't works...

    Hi,
I try to setup a server to test the integration of RS with sharepoint 2007.
The SP2 is installed on the server and the Sharepoint addin installed too.
I have created a RS instance and setup this instance to support sharepoint.
but in the application management pages of sharepoint I don't see the
reporting services section like describe in the installation document.
so the installation doesn't works and I don't see any error anywhere.
my server is an x64 version (windows, sql and sharepoint are in x64)
what can I do to diagnose what's appends?
    thanks.
Jerome. Here you mean email subscription or file shared.
For file shared subcsription, you can give the authentication when you
create the subscription ,the option is available in the same page.
For email, go to Report Configuration from menu and give the server name
for authentication, you need to change the report server config file. "Search
for "SMTP" and you can give your authentication etc...

RS Web parts: Change web part title?

Maybe I should have asked in one of the SharePoint groups, but maybe someone
in this group knows what's wrong. Anyway, in a SharePoint Portal server 2003
portal, I've created a page with the Reporting services web parts. As the
company in question is Norwegian, I want to change the title of the webparts
from Report Explorer and Report Viewer to something in Norwegian. I go to
"Change web part", change the name in the Title text box, click OK. It
changes to the new title, but when I refresh the page, it's back to "Report
Explorer". All other settings are stored, like height and width of the web
part, but not the title. I've had this problem in a different cutomer's
    portal too.
    Any suggestions?
    Kaisa M. LindahlHi.

RS Web Parts on SharePoint 2007

    Hi,

I'm having troubles connecting the webparts on SharePoint 2007. I installed the RSWebParts package from SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services on my MOSS 2007 box. The installation went smoothly and I can add both Report Explorer and Report Viewer on a page. But when I try to connect RE to RV I get the following error:

    An unexpected error has occurred.

Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this page to temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings. For more information, contact your site administrator.

So I have to go to the maintenance page and remove the web parts.

Have anyone managed to bypass this and make them work together?

    Thanks,

    Hi kiral,

Not sure if you have already solved this one, but the answer lies deep within MSDN, and I only just found it yesterday after much googling and heartache.

    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159772.aspx

For Web Parts to communicate yuo need to specify -globalinstall on the STSADM.exe command line.

If you have already installed them without this you need to first uninstall them, then reinstall with the -globalinstall flag.

Why on earth this was not the default instead of the other way round though, only Microsoft knows.

    Happy to Help.

RS Integration with SharePoint 3.0 - Query with userid parameter

When integrating SQL Reporting Services 2005 with Sharepoint Services 3.0, and you have a SRS report that runs over a view with the UserID as a parameter (to filter the records the user has access to), will the SharePoint ReportViewer passover the UserID to RS and RS to SQL?

Sharepoint security with Reporting Services stops at Item level or does it impersontate down to SQL? Should authenticating be Integrated or SQL ? Should the userid in SQL be exact match with Sharepoint? Or are they mapped somewhere?

    Thank You!!

    Hi,

actually these are two different questions:

it depends how you implemented the authentication. If reports are called by Sharepoint, it is possible to use the information of the Windows Identity to authenticate against the SQL Server. As you are using a UserId approach and not the actual identity at the SQL Server level you could also use SQL Server authentication to run the query of the report. So the following options could be available:

[Report (UserId) -- IIS (Windows Integrated Authentication)] -- SQL Server (SQL Server Authentication with static credentials)

[Report (UserId) -- IIS (Windows Integrated Authentication)] -- SQL Server (Windows Authentication)

    RS in Sharepoint 2007

Sharepoint Server Portal 2007, MSSQL 2005, Reporting Services

When I try to integrate Reporting Services in Adminitsrator, for url of RS I write this: http://servername/ReportServer/ and click OK.

But when I try to go to 'Set Server defaults' or 'Managed Shared Shedules' I get this:

Server was unable to process request. > Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty responseWhat should I Do ?

    Hello,

Unfortunatelly I face the same problem.

I just put a little bit more info.

In the "reporting service" area of the application management, there is 3 links:

Manage integration settings : I put the url of my reporting server and the authentiation mode (windows)

RS 2005 SP2 in Sharepoint integrated mode

Up until an hour ago, I was using the Sql Server Reporting Services Report Viewer webpart in Sharepoint with forms authentication, and was not having an issue. The only thing that I did (or remember doing) before things went sour was upload a new report to the document list and since then whenever I try to access a report, manage the data source on a report, change the report URL in the webpart, I get the following message:

An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> The request failed with the error message:
    --
    <html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body>
    <h2>Object moved to <a href="/_layouts/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f_vti_bin%2fReportServer%2fReportService2006.asmx">here</a>.</h2>
    </body></html>

    --.

I found some related posts and have tried the following, but none have helped:

Removed all reports and reuploaded only the one that was definitely working.

I changed the application pool for the report server to be the same app pool as Sharepoint (runs under domain admin account).

I changed the application pool for the report server back to it's original (which the Reporting Services Configuration prefers - was running under Network Service acct before the problem started, now running under domain admin acct)

    I can browse to http://server/reportserver.

I'm running under forms authentication, which had been working.

I can access the three configs for Reporting Services under Application Management in Central Admin - I've tried changing the settings.

I can access http://server/_vti_bin/reportserver/reportservice2006.asmx as well as http://server/_vti_bin/reportserver/reportserviceauthentication.asmx (that was suggested in one post)

I've restarted IIS numerous times, and also finally rebooted the server.

I've created a new document list and set it for report content, just like the other list.

I also just noticed that even though I've set up my admin account as a site collection administrator, I now no longer see my report options under the New button in the document library (both the old and new). I don't know if this is related.

I'm sure that this is a case of something minor that I did that I forgot about. Any suggestions or other troubleshooting that I can do?

    Thanks!

Has anyone seen an error like this? Do I need to reinstall reporting services?

Thanks for any advice that you can give me!

    |||Hi Daw,

This is just a shot in the dark but have you tried the last step in http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1170221&SiteID=1 :

    3. If you've run the

installer multiple times, there may be duplicate entries in the

web.config file. Open web.config which by default should be in

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80 . In that file make sure

there is only one entry for "ReportServiceAuthentication.asmx". If

there is more than one entry, delete the extra tag.

    Thanks,
    Josh

Thanks, Josh! I checked, and there is only one entry in the web.config.

I have determined that it must be something to do with forms authentication. When I changed the authentication provider back to Windows and logged into the site, I'm able to use the report viewer and access the reports. I can also add New data sources in the document library. No permissions have been changed that I'm aware of, so I'm not sure where to check. I've looked at the security on some of the folders, but it appears to be correct. Do you know why forms authentication would not work? It had been working just fine. The forms authentication user is set up as the site administrator, and is in the owners Sharepoint group which has full control.

    Thanks!!

It looks like it may not even be related to the RS add-in, unless it's related to SP2. I removed the add-in and I still have the problem in document libraries under forms authentication. I can see the New, Upload, Actions and Settings buttons in the document libraries, but I do not have an option to create a new document (or other content type), however I have the option and can create a new folder. I have the option to upload one document at a time, but not multiple. It's almost like I have partial permissions. This user is the site collection administrator, is in the Owners Sharepoint group which has full control, and I even added the user with full control.

Any ideas on where this permissions issue could be stemming from? Windows authentication works just fine.

    </body></html>

The above error message happened when you acccess a web site configured with forms auth but your request does not carry the forms auth cookie. Usually browser will automatically add it in after you log in. Did you see frequent timeout happneing?

It should not related to report server itself because the request has not got to report server yet. Can you create a new web app and try to see whether it still repros?

    |||

No timeouts, no prompts to login again.

I ran a repair on Sharepoint, but no change. It looks like I may need to uninstall and reinstall Sharepoint since I can't find an answer. I'm just concerned that it may happen again.

    Thanks for the help!

The issue with not being able to add a new document or other content type was related to the Authentication Provider setup in Central Admin. By default, the Enable Client Integration? for forms authentication is set to No. When I changed it to Yes, I saw the New Document, etc.

I'm still getting the error when accessing the Reporting Services add-in. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Sharepoint, as well as Reporting Services and the add-in. No change. Has anyone else come across this error?

Reporting Services and Sharepoint both support forms authentication, but they are not compatible. See the Note in this document, http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb283324.aspx

I'm not sure how it was ever working in the first place.

    Hope this helps someone else!
