RS2005: Export to Excel error: Destination array was not long enough. Check destIndex and length

All,

I am using Reporting Services 2005. One of my reports is getting the following error when I try to export to Excel. It will export to .CSV though.

"Destination array was not long enough. Check destIndex and length, and the array's lower bounds."

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please copy me at machelle.a.chandler@.intel.com.

Machelle

What is the length of the longest string in the cells that you are trying to export?

Here is another description of similar bug:

http://dev.devbiz.com/forums/thread/1500.aspx

Seems as though the description in their case is too long to export.

|||I have exactly the same problem you mentioned Machelle. I guess it is because there is a certain limit for the data amaount in an Excel cell. Not the Excel cell itself but the buffer related to it. Exporting occassionally works when there is no cell with large amount of data.

I could not find a solution though. Any suggestion is appreciated.

RS2005 June CTP Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd - what is it?

Running a simple report in Report Manager. Try to export to Web Archive and
it wants to download Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd but I can't seem to
find any information about how to use this file. What is AXD - it's not
listed on the internet. Most likely this is happening because you don't have any application
registered for the .MHTML file extension on the machine where you are
exporting. You should still be able to export by just typing in a file name
with a .mhtml file extension.
This should be fixed in later RS 2005 builds.

MHTML as a registered file type.
On the server (Win2003), MHTML is registered to iexplore. On my own dev PC
(Win XP) it's msohtmed. The symptoms remain the same on both.
I do have another issue with url access crashing (bug 564712370)
Exception type: InvalidConfigFileTypeException
Exception message: The type
Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.WebControlConnection,
ReportingServicesWebUserInterface
Could these be related?

RS2000 Large report fails to export to Excel

I have large report (200 pages, landscape 14x8.5) that will not export to
Excel.
Last night we scheduled the report to email us the Excel rendered file. The
subscription page shows the following error.
Failure sending mail: Exception of type
Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportRendering.ReportRenderingException was
thrown.
We ran the report manually today and tried to export through the Report
Manager and it tries to download a file that is only 1.84K large. When we
click save we get an error.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do get this report to export to Excel?
I've inlcuded the trace log below detailing the why the it would not send
the mail.

e493718d-bcfd-48fb-8420-908baa3f80c4200 pages? AFAIK, Excel can only have about 65000 rows maximum. That could
be the cause of the error, if the report have too many rows of data.

rs exporting to excel problems

Good day,

I have a report designed in VS2005 deployed. The report opens fine through reporting services but when i try to export it to Excel format the numbers are being stored as text. I need the numbers to be exported in number format. How do I achieve this? Thanks

Hello,

You can use Format Property of that textbox(Set it to any Number format).

RS Custom Toolbar

Hi
We are developing a custom toolbar with the export, zoom, find and
previous/next page browsing functionalities. How can we go about developing
the page browsing functionality?
ThanksCreate

RS 2005, VS 2005 and specifying printer trays

I am trying to build a demo to prove the following can be done with SQL 2005 Reporting Services:

1. Export report as .pdf to file location. - Done

2. Use CSLA business objects with Reporting Services to reuse the object's ability to populate itself. - Done

3. Set certain reports to print from certain trays on a specific printer. More specifically, for a certain report, I need the first page to print from Tray 1 and all remaining pages to print from Tray 2.

This is the task I am having problems with. I am trying to just get the tray selection working now with just a windows app but even if I get that far, will I need to extend RS and write my own print routine? Also, if this report is served to the client via URL, will I be able to specify the printer and tray or will I need a print server to handle this?

Thanks.

I have had luck with using ABCPDF for PDF manipulation.

You could create two separate printers with different default trays and then print the first page to one printer, and the rest to another.

Bryan has a good article on printing from Reporting Services:
