RS interface tools

Hi Ya'll,
I saw a MS demo of RS and decided to give it a try, do a little learning.
Perhaps toss Crystal reports if RS is too cool to ignore.
I have SQL 2K and had RS Installed but don't see the tools to begin design.
Is that only in SQL2K5 ?
Am I suppose to fork out the bucks for VB.net when I don't roll vb code?
Seems silly for a 'free' module.
Any easier options ? I can't upgrade to 2K5 yet, months away.

you do NOT need to buy VB.NET. If you are using SQL 2000 Reporting Services,
then you will need to buy VS.NET 2003 (VB.NET) to install the Reporting
Services Designer component.
Best bet: Use SQL 2005 - the client tools will install the SQL Server
Business Intelligence Development Studio by default. (Which is the report
designer).

on the testing time for a discontinued GUI (ours).
I'll see if I can find the VS2003/VB demo for testing and maybe we'll have
upgraded SQL by spring.

RS 2005, VS 2005 and specifying printer trays

I am trying to build a demo to prove the following can be done with SQL 2005 Reporting Services:

1. Export report as .pdf to file location. - Done

2. Use CSLA business objects with Reporting Services to reuse the object's ability to populate itself. - Done

3. Set certain reports to print from certain trays on a specific printer. More specifically, for a certain report, I need the first page to print from Tray 1 and all remaining pages to print from Tray 2.

This is the task I am having problems with. I am trying to just get the tray selection working now with just a windows app but even if I get that far, will I need to extend RS and write my own print routine? Also, if this report is served to the client via URL, will I be able to specify the printer and tray or will I need a print server to handle this?

You could create two separate printers with different default trays and then print the first page to one printer, and the rest to another.
