RS: does not work without Visual Studio?

Hello,
i've installed Reporting Services on "Windows 2000 Server" and "SQL Server
2000 SP3a".
During the setup a window popped up with the "System Check Results" showing
a warning that "Visual Studio .net 2003" is not installed.
I've continued the setup process without any other warnings.
Then I've tried to find RS.. it is not in the program menu, there is only
"Reporting Services Books online - english".
There is also nothing in the menuebar of "Enterprise Manager".
Is it really necessary to install Visual Studio on a server'
I hope somebody can help me.
Greetings
Hendrik

You should be able to access the reports server on your server machine at
the following address:
http://<servername>/reports
This should take you to the Reports Manager. You only need VS2003 installed
on a machine that you are going to use to design and develop the reports on.

Services is an asp.net application. That is why you do not see anything in
the different places you looked. Just like any other website/asp.net
application. Only IIS knows about it.

RS Service Pack 1 question

Does installing RS SP1 upgrade the version of sql server? We are
running SP3A as a standard. I want to verify that if I install RS sp1
sql server will not be upgraded to 8.00.859 (this version contains a
hotfix). We noticed our test sever contains the hotfix and are
trying to figure out how it got there. RS SP1 was installed about a
week back. Are you sure that someone didn't install it? If your test server is running
Windows 2003 the install instruction say to install that hotfix.
I don't think SP1 does anything to the SQL Server version but I am not at
work today to verify that. I know it does upgrade the database used by RS
but that is just normal data objects, not applying a hotfix.

uses.

RS Printing Issues with SP2

Hi,
I'm creating some reports using SQL RS .
Windows 2000 SP4,
SQL Server 2000, Standard Edition, SP3a
Reporting Services 2000 - SP2 ( recently updated)
Had no problems while updating with the new SP2.
But realised that the Print option in SP2 isn't working for me.
In the Web environment,
When we output the report, we can right click and click on the print ...it's
getting the printer dialog and now it goes to the printer
So, it's printing the same zoomed report whatever is currently there on the
screen..say 50% or 70%.
That's fine...but that will not print all the pages in the report.
But this new SP which is supposed to solve that prob...got the print option
When u print the report...irrespective of what u've got on the screen or
what u've zoomed..it's printing the 100% and crossing the page boundaries and
printing the report on two pages, though the width was set to 8"
Can anyone help me in resolving this.
I'm using Report Viewer to render my report.
Surprisingly, when I installed the RS SP2 on the server ( Windows 2003
SBS),open the same report and click on the print Icon, I'm getting some Error
related to GDI, and the entire application is gettiing crashed.
Thanks in advance.
srinivasTry re-deploying the report and printing again. There are some attributes
that the printing function need that only show up after redeploying the
report.
