I need to run RSCONFIG and change the account used for reporting
services. The password I need to use has the character | (it looks like
two sideways minus sings one on top of the other)
When rsconfig runs, I get the error "the rest of the statement is not
recognized" and the text after that character is then displayed.
Can anyone tell me what escape character can I place in front of the |
character so that the command line utility sees that character as part
of the password?Have you tried enclosing the the password and argument in quotes?

Put quotes around the password and RSConfig should work.

Our password is something like this kl9O7|mi05 The error we were
getting was "the remaining text is not recognized mi05".
Putting quotes around the password did not work. My DBA figured out
that placing a ^ in front of the | character worked.
I now have a different problem, but at least I now know how to pass
oddball charactered passwords (are there really any other type) to the
RSCONFIG utility.
