RS2005 - Backend database SQL 2000

Hi,

Is it possible to have RS2005 with the backend as SQL Server 2000 (may be on a remote machine)?

I.e. the Reportserver and ReportServerTempDb will reside on SQL Server 2000.

With which edition of SQL Server 2005 is it possible?

TIA,
Tanmaya

Dear,

U can link a datasource from sqlserver2000.But u cannot have a reportserver and reportservertempdatabase on sqlserver2000.

No edition of sqlserver2005 support this.

Yes, this is possible and supported. For example, you can install RS 2005 Enterprise Edition with the metadata being stored on a SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition.

|||Thanks,

RS2005 enterprise edition works with backend as SQL 2000.

In Reporting Services configuration manager -> database set, I connected to the machine having SQL 2000 and successfully created the Reportserver and ReportServerTempDb.

However, am getting an error at 'Create Grants Right Script'. I am giving the credentials of system adminstrator (i.e. sa)

Am I going wrong in giving the credentials? Which User's credentials am I suppose to enter there?

Has anyone tried this scenario?

Thanks
Tanmaya|||Please be careful in doing this as it does change some things on that backend. I messed up our backup software by doing this. In short the backup software does not support 2005 server yet and the things that report service installs, installed something that our back software was using....sql
